A retirement visa by investing?:

There is no “retirement visa” in Japan, but some foreigners, for example, buy real estate in Japan, in other words, invest and run a “business” in Japan to obtain a Business Administration Visa. However, the requirements for this visa is likely to become more strict in the near future. In fact, the candidate might have to have more than three years of management or administration experience or a master’s degree equivalent in management or administration.
If you obtain a Business Administration Visa by real estate investment now, that could be a “retirement visa” in nature, but this does not allow the visa holder to live in Japan permanently. Plus the renewal can be denied if the candidate does not meet the requirements.
