Is permanent residency valid for good?

A certain permanent resident once wanted to apply for a certificate of eligibility for a spouse visa of his spouse, but his family members who also were permanent residents had problems by which a permanent residency would have been denied had they ever had these problems before they became permanent residents.

Their permanent residency will not be revoked by the problems they had, but there are cases by which permanent residency can be revoked. According to the Immigration Bureau:

Permanent residents are not subject to residence review procedures such as extending their period of stay, but they must comply with the obligations under the Immigration Control Act, such as applying for renewal of the validity period of their residence card and submitting a notification of their place of residence.

Under the current Immigration Control Act, if you fail to notify your new place of residence, if you notify a false place of residence, or if you obtain permanent residence permission through fraudulent means, your “permanent resident” status may be revoked.
In addition, even if you are a permanent resident, you may be deported if you are sentenced to more than one year in prison or if you are convicted of a drug offense.

Our government is not lelient to permanent residents. Permanent residents should do all their best not having problems such as becoming food stamps recipients after they receive permanent residency.
