There is a rather odd fact with regard to the eligibility for Business Manager Visa.
According to Ministerial Order to Provide for Criteria Pursuant to Article 7, Paragraph (1), Item (ii) of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act,
“If the applicant seeks to manage the business, the applicant has at least 3 years of experience of operating or managing a business (including any period where the applicant majored in the operation or management of a business at a graduate school), and, receives a remuneration equivalent to or greater than that a Japanese national receives for the same work.”
It sounds as though a person needs at least 3 years of experience to establish a company or any commercial organization, but there is a difference between “operation” and “management.”
If your desire is to establish an organization and be the head of it, this belongs to the category of “operation”.
On the other hand, if you intend to be only one of the executives of the organization, in other words, a subordinate of the head, that belongs to the category of “management.”
As long as you apply for a visa to be a head or a CEO, that does not require 3 years of experience, whereas 3 years of experience is required to be a hired executive. This might sound odd, but this is what the Immigration Bureau says.
