Is a big profit absolutely necessary?:

If you wish to apply for a Business Administration Visa in Japan, your business plan is one of the requirements. I usually do not write a statement of reason for this application. I incorporate the statement of reason into the business plan.

The financial prospect of your business is a very important part of the business plan (both revenue and expenditure, of course). The question is, does your business necessarily have to end up in a profit?

If your business can make a big profit even during the first year, that might be very persuasive, but the Immigration Bureau will be skeptical unless you provide strong evidence for such success. On the other hand, even if your business cannot make a profit for a year or two, you can persuade by explaining how your business will grow and eventually make a profit, for example, during the third year and keep making a profit every year.

There was a certain prospective applicant of a Business Administration Visa who said his business will make 5.9 million yen per month constantly, and his salary will be 1.8 million every month. The profit of his business was some million yen per month after subtracting his salary and other expenses, but very strong evidence must be provided to persuade. Plus, this prospective applicant did not know other very basic matters of business administration such as mandatory Employee’s Pension Insurance and Employee’s Health Insurance.

A mere strong prospect of a big profit does not persuade the Immigration Bureau. Please make sure to prove gradual growth and development of your business when you apply for a Business Administration Visa.
