Someone who has a student visa recently has asked me whether that person could work under permission for activities other than that permitted under the current status at the company she was hired at part time till her status is changed since her status cannot be changed before her employment officially begins. If that person wishes to start working on April 1, the status must be changed by then. If the date of graduation is March 20, and that person has permission for activities other than that permitted under the current status, that person may work until March 20, but working on March 21 and after would be illegal. Consequently:
*That person may work under permission for activities other than that permitted under the current status till March 20.
*That person may start working at the new company after the status is completely changed.
*This means that the person just has to wait till the status is changed without working after the date of graduation. The person may stay in Japan either until your status is changed or 2 months after the application is filed in this case.
