An unexpectant pitfall:

I have heard from a gentleman who applied for an extension of period of stay for his Engineer/Specialist in Humanity/International Services status and was refused. He and I went to the Tokyo Immigration Bureau together and asked an inspector the specific reason for refusal.

The reason which the inspector mentioned was unexpectant.

The applicant had worked at a few different companies before he started working at the company which helped him  apply for the extension of the period.

According to the Immigration Bureau’s investigation, company A has not hired any foreign staff since 2024 according to the notification submitted by the company, but the applicant started working there 2025, and the Immigration Bureau had to conclude that the applicant engaged in activities not permitted under his current status (?).

Also, company B did not notify the Immigration Bureau of their employment status, and the applicant worked there for 6 months. Consequently, the Immigration Bureau had to conclude that the applicant engaged in activities not permitted under his current status (?).

The applicant noticed company A was questionable right away and wise enough to resign right away, but he could not notice quetionableness of company B at all and worked there for 6 months.

Even if you change the job and work at a company which requires the visa you currently hold, just submitting a notification regarding the affiliated organization might not be sufficient. If you are concerned about your prospective employer, please feel free to contact me. I can obtain the registry of your prospective company online almost immediately.
