Please be cautious:
If you have an Engineer/Specialist in Humanity/International Services visa, but your application is denied for renewal of your period, the Immigration Bureau might change your status to a Designated Activities, and you will be allowed to stay in Japan for 30 more days only to prepare to leave Japan.
However, a certain person who contacted me for the above circumstances recently kept working at the company after his status was changed. He could end up in the notorious detention center and be deported in the worst case unless he stops working immediately. Plus, the employer can be prosecuted as well. If your status is changed from the working status to a Designated Activities for leaving Japan, please make sure to stop working immediately.
